With the continuous growth in the demand for lawn maintenance in domestic airports, large industrial parks, pastures, embankments, municipal green spaces, and photovoltaic bases, the market for large-scale tractor-mounted mowers is steadily expanding. Many project managers and procurement personnel from landscaping companies often fall into the trap of parameter comparison when selecting manufacturers of large mowers: focusing solely on cutting width while neglecting terrain adaptability; prioritizing procurement costs while overlooking long-term maintenance expenses, equipment stability, and after-sales response speed. When searching for "Which large mower manufacturer is the best," buyers need a comprehensive selection logic that evaluates five key dimensions—cutting width, power matching, terrain adaptability, scenario compatibility, and equipment maintenance—to choose machinery suitable for project conditions.

I. Three key elements for selecting a large lawn mower: cutting width, power, and terrain adaptation

1. Cutting width: determines homework efficiency, not the wider the better

The cutting width is the most intuitive parameter of a large lawn mower, which directly affects the daily operating area. The mainstream models on the market have cutting spans ranging from 2.75 meters to 9.3 meters. Narrow width models are flexible in turning and suitable for parks with scattered plots and many obstacles; The wide folding machine has a large single coverage area and is suitable for continuous large area flat lawns.

The folding structure is the key design of a wide lawn mower. Non folding wide width equipment, with width exceeding the limit during transportation, requires special procedures for road transportation, making it very inconvenient to move between sites; The hydraulic folding machine can achieve complete cutting width when unfolded during operation, and hydraulic narrowing during transition, which meets road transportation standards and significantly reduces project transportation costs. When purchasing, the cutting size should be selected based on the degree of continuity of the project site and the frequency of transition. If the site is narrow and the plots are scattered, blindly choosing oversized cutting equipment will actually result in a large number of blind spots and overall efficiency decline due to the large turning radius.

2. Power matching: tractor matching power, matching working condition load

A large towed lawn mower is a tractor accessory, and its power is not provided by the equipment itself. It needs to be matched with the corresponding horsepower tractor output power. Light load leveling lawn with low weed density, suitable for medium horsepower tractor; Fields with wasteland, tall grass, and mixed vines have high cutting resistance and require reserved power redundancy to avoid problems such as blade jamming and hydraulic system overheating during long-term high load operations.

The power transmission structure also affects the stability of the equipment. There are two mainstream solutions on the market: chain drive and drive shaft drive. The transmission structure of the drive shaft has stronger impact resistance, and in scenes where small branches and stones are mixed in weeds, it has better buffering ability, reducing damage caused by sudden load impact; The cost of chain transmission structure is lower, but the wear rate is faster under long-term heavy load conditions, and regular maintenance frequency needs to be increased.

3. Terrain adaptation: slope, ground flatness, site obstacles

Terrain is a core indicator that is easily overlooked in selection. Smooth out large airport lawns and sports fields, with minimal ground undulations, and a conventional floating cutting platform can ensure stable operation; Dams, slopes, hilly orchards, with undulating ground, must use machines with floating cutting platforms. The floating cutting platform can adaptively float up and down according to the contour of the ground, ensuring even stubble height and avoiding local cuts or missed cuts to the grass roots.

Based on the terrain characteristics of different scenarios: flat and contiguous fields, sufficient wheeled floating cutting platforms; In addition to floating cutting platforms, it is also necessary to add anti-collision and anti blocking grass structures to the rough and uneven wilderness with a large number of soil pits; In areas with steep slopes, in addition to designing the center of gravity of the equipment, it is also necessary to synchronously evaluate the braking and grip performance of the supporting tractor to ensure operational safety.

II. Key points for daily maintenance of equipment to extend the service life of the entire machine

Large lawn mowers belong to outdoor heavy-duty operation equipment. Standardized maintenance can reduce downtime caused by malfunctions, extend the equipment's lifespan, and lower long-term usage costs.

(1) Pre homework inspection: Before each start of work, check the wear of the blades and the tightness of the fixing bolts; Check if there is any leakage in the hydraulic pipeline and if the floating cutting platform roller rotates smoothly; Clean up the old grass wrapped inside the cutting table to prevent it from accumulating and heating up.

(2) Cleaning after homework: Complete the daily homework and clean up any remaining weeds and soil inside the cutting table. Long term accumulation of weeds can easily corrode steel plates, and humid environments can accelerate blade corrosion.

(3) Regular maintenance: regularly add lubricating grease to the transmission shaft, bearings, and floating wheels; Hydraulic oil should be replaced regularly according to the duration of use, and the filter element should also be replaced; If the blade breaks or wears thin, it should be polished or replaced in a timely manner to avoid the blade imbalance causing vibration of the entire machine.

(4) Long term storage: idle for more than a quarter, clean the entire machine, and apply rust prevention treatment to metal parts; Place the equipment in a dry and ventilated area, support the cutting table on the ground, and do not rely on hydraulic cylinders for long-term load-bearing.

In terms of maintenance system, FOTMA has established a supporting technical service system, and provides operation training manuals synchronously when delivering equipment. Technical personnel are arranged to explain equipment operation specifications, maintenance cycles, and common troubleshooting methods. Domestic projects can receive remote technical guidance, and key projects can provide on-site technical support to shorten troubleshooting time and reduce project downtime losses.
