The uneven depth or loss of control of the rotary tiller blade in the soil directly affects the quality of weeding and soil structure. In fact, this mainly depends on the coordination between the tractor's suspension system and limit wheels, and the conventional operating depth is usually controlled between 15 and 20 centimeters.

I. How to accurately set the depth?

The rotary tiller itself does not have a motor to drive soil cutting, and its "depth" is determined by the three-point suspension system of the rear tractor. To achieve the ideal depth of penetration, the key is to adjust the lifting position of the tractor hydraulic system and the depth limiting wheel at the bottom of the rotary tiller (if any).

In practical operation, most agricultural practices require deep plowing of around 15 to 20 centimeters. If the root system of weeds in the field is deep, it can be adjusted to 25 centimeters appropriately; If only loosening the topsoil or weeding is done, 10 to 15 centimeters is more suitable. Note that depth is not necessarily better, excessive depth can increase fuel consumption and engine load, and even lead to axle breakage.

II. Step by step investigation and handling of soil entry anomalies

If it is found during the homework that the blade shaft is unstable, intermittently deep or shallow, or cannot cut the soil at all, please follow the following steps to investigate one by one:

Check the depth limit wheel height: This is the most intuitive criterion. Observe whether the depth limiting wheel is in contact with the ground, and its top height should be consistent with the expected plowing depth. If the wheels are suspended, it indicates that the hydraulic lift is too high and the tractor gear needs to be lowered; If the wheels are pressed too hard, causing the rotary tiller to float and not cut the soil, it is necessary to raise the depth limiting wheel appropriately or adjust the hydraulic pressure slightly. Criterion: The depth limiting wheel should be smoothly grounded and bear part of the weight of the aircraft to stabilize the depth.

Check the wear of the blade: After long-term use, the high-end of the weeding blade will wear and become dull, resulting in increased cutting resistance and the machine is prone to "jumping". Check the blade length. If it is more than 3 centimeters shorter than the new blade, it is recommended to replace it in groups. Phenomenon: The blade tip turns white and curled, accompanied by severe vibration during operation.

Check the tension of the transmission chain/belt: Poor power transmission can lead to insufficient blade shaft speed, which in turn affects the depth of penetration into the soil. In the starting state (pay attention to safety distance), observe whether the rotation of the knife shaft is smooth and there is no jamming. Operation: The appropriate tension is to press the belt with your fingers and lower it by 1 to 1.5 centimeters. If it is too loose, it will cause slipping, and if it is too tight, it will accelerate the bearing damage.

III. Preventing card sticking and daily maintenance

Many times, 'deep loss of control' is actually caused by the accumulation of debris in the fields. The entanglement of weeds around the blade shaft is a common cause, which not only hinders entry into the soil, but may also lead to engine stalling.

It is recommended to clean the entanglement on the blade shaft and add lubricating grease to each transmission joint before each assignment. Especially after working in damp soil environments, it is necessary to rinse thoroughly and air dry to prevent rusting and jamming of the limit mechanism.

In general, it is enough to remember the phrase "first adjust the depth limit wheel to set the benchmark, then check the blade to ensure sharpness, and ensure that the hydraulic matching does not exceed the load". Regularly cleaning the entanglement can avoid most depth abnormality problems.
